Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Arrives, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a dedicated Nintendo presentation that highlighted the forthcoming animated feature.
Following up on the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will propel Mario to the distant reaches of the cosmos. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Cosmic Adventure Based on Iconic Releases
Much like the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. Throughout his extensive trek, he will reunite with some recognizable characters, for instance the Luma, a popular character from the first movie.
Yet it looks like Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Interestingly, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The feature will feature once again of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is set to release near the 40-year celebration of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Beyond the film, 2026 is shaping up to be a major period for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles already confirmed for 2026, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
