Alarming Recording Reveals Moment Officers Get Knifed in Surprise Attack
A senior officer who rushed to the aid of a fellow officer who was ambushed by a blade-wielder received the Royal Recognition for Bravery.
Sergeant Tim Ansell fought with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he placed a weapon to the throat of his fellow officer Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown began the violence as the law enforcement personnel and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a motorist subsequent to a vehicle incident in the area in mid-2023.
Brown attacked with blade both Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster before Police Constable Wolstencroft stopped him with a stun gun.
"Policeman attacked," the constable could be heard saying over his radio.
Bodyworn and vehicle camera video made public by the police department revealed Brown, who was dressed in dark clothing with a hood covering head, rush to Sergeant Foster from behind with a knife outstretched.
He ran into the officer who lost balance and went down to the pavement, after which Sergeant Ansell stepped in and attempted to subdue him to the pavement although being multiple times hit with the knife.
PC Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and awaited a open target, bringing the fight to an finish.
Sgt Ansell can be heard to say: "Can I get something on my neck here, I've been stabbed in the neck."
Sergeant Ansell sustained multiple lacerations to his throat and more wounds to his limbs and torso, while Sgt Foster experienced cut injuries.
Officials said Sgt Foster used his bare hands to control his partner's blood loss before medical personnel arrived.
This most recent award arrives subsequent to the law enforcement team won organizational Valor Recognitions in October 2023 and the police federation award from the regional union branch in spring 2024.
They were also awarded a North West Bravery Award in summer 2024.
"The efforts of all three officers in the end protected themselves and meant no members of the public endured any wounds."
Brown was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order in early 2024, as stated by officials.
